This simple guide is for customers who were previously using Kolide Cloud, and are transitioning to K2.
You can start deploying K2 to your end users at any time by signing up for a free 30-day trial. You can easily invite team members, and use our new Slackbot to deploy the new launcher agent across your fleet.
The next step will be to uninstall the old Cloud launcher agent. To do this, follow our instructions to uninstall the launcher agent from your devices below.
Uninstall Kolide Cloud Launcher Agent
In the event that you want to completely remove the Kolide Launcher agent from a device, you can do so by following the steps below.
First, launch Terminal.
Next, unload and remove the launcher by running:
sudo launchctl stop com.kolide.launcher
sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.kolide.launcher.plist
sudo rm -f /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.kolide.launcher.plist
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/kolide
sudo rm -rf /etc/kolide
sudo rm -rf /var/kolide
If you also want to uninstall the Kolide desktop app, locate it in the Applications folder and drag it to the trash.
First, open PowerShell as an administrator.
Next, stop the osquery service by running:
Finally, open the Add and Remove Programs settings, select osquery from the programs list, and click uninstall.
You will also want your users to uninstall the Desktop App separately from the Launcher when de-provisioning a device.
The good news is, it is as simple as any other macOS uninstallation, simply drag the application to the trash and you will have uninstalled!
Once this is complete, and you're ready to roll with your shiny new K2, ping us via Intercom, or email, and we will close out your Cloud account, and have you transfer your payment information into the new billing page in K2.
